Nella "Nell" Kathleen Simmons Coyle, of Hilton Head Island, SC and formerly of Battle Creek, MI,





Nell, age 91, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014. Nell was born August 8, 1922, in Cadiz, KY, the daughter of Arthur W. and Alma R. (Dawson) Simmons. She graduated from Jefferson School of Nursing in Battle Creek and later received her certification as an Optometrist Assistant. Nell was employed as a nurse for both Drs. Phillip Sr. and Phillip Bonifer Jr. during the 1950's and 60's. She was formerly a member of the First Baptist of Hopkinsville, KY, and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church of Battle Creek. She was a member of the Calhoun County Medical Assistants and a life member of the Battle Creek Health Systems Auxiliary.


She is survived by a daughter, Connie F. Pendleton of Hilton Head Island; grandson, Dr. Patrick Coyle Pendleton and his wife, Stacie D., of Orland Park, IL; great granddaughters, Kierstin L. and Kayleigh S. Pendleton; brothers, Kenneth Simmons of KY, Norris Simmons of IL, and Adrian Simmons of TN. She was preceded in death by her husband John D. Coyle, son-in-law Thaddeus (Tad) A. Pendleton and several brothers and sisters.


A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in Cadiz, KY. Memorials may be made to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, 157 Chapel Hill Drive, Battle Creek, MI 49015.
