Nelson M. Dull, 89, of Battle Creek, died October 19, 2021. Nelson was born November 30, 1931 in Battle Creek to Guy and Nellie (Joppie) Dull. He went to Lakeview Schools and then went on to serve his country honorably in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 in Germany. Following his time in the service Nelson worked as a tree trimmer and did masonry work before working at the Kellogg Company for 31 years, retiring in 1991.

Nelson was an outdoorsman who enjoyed golf and fishing, and also enjoyed cribbage. He played sports when he was younger and always enjoyed attending his kid's and grandchildren's sporting events. His main passion in life was his family and spending time with them. Nelson was a member of the Pennfield Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club and the American Legion Post #54.

Nelson is survived by his loving wife Mary "Martie" Dull of Battle Creek; a son, Nelson D. (Sally) Dull of Lake City, FL.; grandchildren, Jessica (Wilfredo) Collazo of Wesley Chapel, FL; a step-grandson, Michael (Quintessa) Curcuro of Punta Gorda, FL; great-grandchildren, Michael, Emmanual and Antonio Collazo, Calvin and Keziah Curcuro, all of Florida; a daughter, Debra (Charlie) McDonald of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Jennifer Miller of Dowagiac and Aubree Miller of Colon; great-grandchildren, Tyler (Kara) Miller of Lansing, Chase Austin and Kendall Bradley of Dowagiac; great great-grandson, Cameron Tyler Miller of Lansing; a daughter, Catherine (James) Bruce of Vinz Grove, KY; grandchildren, Rachel (Chad) Raynes of Lexington, KY and Philip (Kristen) Bruce of Edmund, OK.; great-grandchildren, Elliana and Abbott Raynes of Lexington, KY and Levi and Hannah Bruce of Edmund, OK; a brother, Bart (Mary) Spartto of Green Bay, WI; stepsons, Glenn Newton of Battle Creek and Mark Newton of Smyrna, GA; brother-in-law, Rev. Jack (Mary Ellen) DePond of Leon, Iowa and several nieces and nephews; beloved adopted cat, Tiger and a special thanks to Sandy Dull for all her helpfulness.

Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 37 years, Delores E. (Jackson) Dull; brothers, Fred G. Dull, Leo E. Dull, Franklin Dull and sisters, Rena (Pauline) Wallis, Lamoyne Ormsbee, Beverly Fifer and Josephine Cartledge.

As per Nelson's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Elara Caring Hospice, Great Lakes Hospice, Pennfield Presbyterian Church or one's choice. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
