Nicholas Adam "Nick" Weemes of Richland, MI
Nick, age 34, died Sunday, December 6, 2105 at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo, MI following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer and with his loving family at his side.
Nick, the son of William Dean and Andrea Lynn (Wertz) Weemes was born in Battle Creek, MI on October 6, 1981. He was a 2000 graduate of Gull Lake High School of Richland. Nick had been employed for the past ten years with the Kellogg's Company of Battle Creek as a Packaging Operator. He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church of Augusta, MI. One of Nick's passions was playing golf whenever and wherever possible and was at home being out on Gull Lake or traveling to warm climates. His other passion was spending time with his family, his pets and many friends!
Nick was united in marriage to the "Love of his Life," Melissa Ann (nee: Everhart) in Mexico on May 5, 2014. Surviving to mourn his loss is his wife, Melissa; his parents, Andi and Dean Weemes of Augusta; his brother, Kristopher R. Weemes of Washington, MI; his paternal grandfather, William A. Weemes of Richland and two uncles, Rick Wertz of Nashville, MI and Jeffrey (Alison) Weemes of Ada, MI.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 12th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, with Father James F. Adams, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting. Interment will follow in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland. Immediately following the committal service, family and friends are invited to the Yorkville Community Church Social Hall, 11523 East D Avenue, Richland to continue Nick's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon. Nick's family will greet friends on Friday, December 11th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89), where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Nick's honor may be directed to the Bronson Health Foundation, c/o Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Center Medication Fund, 300 North Street, Battle Creek, MI 49017.
