Nila Jo Godde, 85, of Augusta went home to be with her husband, Bob on December 24, 2025.
Nila was born August 26, 1940 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Willard and Ally White. Nila loved crafts of all kinds, oil painting, knitting, and quilting. She even made clothes for her children. She always had a project or several to work on. She was a talented stained-glass artist and sold her pieces at art shows under the name Classy Glass. She was a waitress at Brook Lodge, where she once met Walt Disney and got his autograph. She was also a school bus driver for Galesburg-Augusta Schools, where she retired the same day as her husband.
She was married to Robert Lee Godde, who lovingly referred to her as “his bride,” for 65 years. He sadly preceded her in death. Nila is survived by her sons, Michael (Rosemary) Godde and Brian (Susan) Godde; granddaughters, Trudy (Thomas) Dukes and Christi Godde; step-grandson, John Trogu and his son, Anthony John Trogu.
Nila will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery January 9, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Augusta Chapel. Personal messages for her family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
