Nora Christina (Lake) Stafford of Augusta, MI







Nora, age 89, died Monday, September 8, 2014 with her family by her side, following a brief illness.


Nora, the daughter of Foster and Mae (Sprague) Lake, was born on May 8, 1925 in Muir, MI. She was employed at Shakespeare's, the Kellogg Company, Richland Plastics and Fort Custer State Home. Her place of worship was the Augusta Fellowship United Methodist Church; she enjoyed sewing, cooking and making her famous apple pie or just puttering in the yard, but her true passion in life was her family.


Nora was united in marriage to Harry O. Stafford on January 6, 1945 in the Augusta Fellowship UMC and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1994. Surviving are her children, Dennis A. Stafford of Augusta MI, Timothy P. (Kim) Stafford of Richland MI, Nancy A. (Robert) Caillier of Houghton Lake, MI; her daughter-in-law, Janine G. Stafford of Dowling, MI; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; a sister, Janette Bellingar of Lake Odessa, MI; a brother, Lloyd (Elaine) Lake of Stanton MI and numerous nieces and nephews. Nora was preceded in death by her parents; several siblings; sons, Harry "Dan" and Terry Alan and a special sister-in-law, Beverly Root.


The Stafford Family will receive family and friends on Friday, September 12th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Augusta Chapel, 307 N. Webster Street Augusta MI. The Funeral Service to celebrate Nora's life will be held on Saturday, September 13th at 11:00 a.m. in the Augusta Fellowship United Methodist Church, 103 N. Webster Street, with the Rev. Jennifer J. Wheeler, Pastor, officiating. Family and friends will continue Nora's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the Service in the Church Social Hall. Interment at a later date will be in Augusta Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Nora's honor may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans Association, P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati, OH 45250.
