Orlean Steinbacher, 85, of Battle Creek died at Best Care Plus Living Center East in Marshall, MI on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.  
Orlean was born August 26, 1929 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Stark and Carie (Webb) Lambert.  She was orphaned at the age of five, and was raised by Lillian Farley, her aunt and sister of Carie Lambert.  Orlean grew up in Houma, Louisiana, graduated from Terrebonne High School in Houma, and received her Licensed Practical Nursing Degree in Louisiana.  Orlean was employed at several doctor offices, including Drs. Frankenstein and Munger; and retired from Drs. Allen, Sawchuck and Lindquist office.  
After moving to Battle Creek, Orlean Lambert met Lilius Edward "Dutch" Steinbacher and the two of them were married on January 17, 1953.  She was preceded in death by her husband, "Dutch" on April 5, 1993 and by her brother, Harold Lambert, at the age of 33, in 1964.  Surviving are her daughter, Susan "Jean" Steinbacher; several nieces and nephews and their families; extended family members, Jack (Jeannette) Grisgsby, Tommy (Pat) Grigsby; and special family friend, Dave Sayre.  
Orlean was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the B.C. Garden Club and Professional Business Women, serving on the board and as its president and vice-president for many years.  Orlean loved to travel with her daughter and family; and enjoyed seeing how different people lived, especially in Europe.  She enjoyed traveling with her four girlfriends to New York City to sightsee and see plays.  Orlean also enjoyed country music; and going along to ride in the golf cart and enjoy the camaraderie when her daughter, Jean and friends, played the game they loved.  
Friends will be received by Orlean's family 9:30 â 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014.
