Ormie A. Benson, 85, of Inverness, Florida passed away August 12, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. A native of Battle Creek, he was born June 27, 1931 to the late Harry and Ruth (Cady) Benson. He retired from the Kellogg Company with over 35 years of service. He also served our country honorably in the United States Navy. Following retirement, he and his wife, Madge moved to Inverness, FL in 1986.
Ormie was a devoted and active member of the Calvary Chapel Church in Inverness, FL which was formerly the Main Street Baptist Church.
Left to mourn his loss is his wife of 55 years, Madge (Ratliff) Benson, of Inverness, FL; his daughter, Constance Benson, of Floral City, FL; a stepson, Stephen Ratliff, of Burlington; a brother, Mark Benson, of Bristol, CT; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Ormie was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Cody Eric Culp and a step great-grandson, Christopher Adams.
Ormie's life was celebrated on Tuesday, August 16th at 3:00 p.m. at the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Kevin Ballard of Calvary Chapel. A graveside service to celebrate Ormie's life in Battle Creek will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Robert Freysinger. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Battle Creek Skate Board, 923 E.
