Patricia J. "Pat" Miller, age 88 of Battle Creek passed away peacefully at home on Saturday morning, August 23, 2025. She was born in Battle Creek on June 4, 1937, the daughter of Charles F. and Lilah G. (Hall) Briggs. Pat graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1955 and received her bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University. She served for more than 27 years as an RN, ER nurse, and house supervisor at Community Hospital and in several area doctors’ offices.

Patricia J. Briggs married Louis “Lou” Miller at the First United Methodist Church of Battle Creek on January 17, 1960. She is survived by her husband of more than 65 years, Lou; her children, Joseph Miller, Scott (Linda) Miller and Amy (Tobin) Brevitz, all of Battle Creek; six grandchildren, Louis Miller, Andrea Miller, Robert (Lauren) Merrill, Christopher (Lauren) Merrill, Colin (Samantha) Brevitz, and Jenna Brevitz; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Miller, Isaac Merrill, Eli Merrill; several nieces, nephews and a large extended family. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Brigadier General Charles Briggs, US Army and her sister, Judyth Lohse.

Pat joined Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in 1968, and has been an active member of the church ever since. She was a faithful member of the church choir for more than 50 years and served on many different boards and in various positions. When her children were younger, Pat served as a Cub Scout and Webelo's Den Mother and served many years as the PTA President at Westlake Elementary.

Pat was a founding member of the “Domino Dollies,” who gathered every Thursday afternoon for more than 30 years. She also served as Admiral aboard the Sea Niche I, II, and III, sharing more than 40 years of adventures on Lake Michigan and beyond, alongside her husband, “Captain Lou.” A lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers, Pat rarely missed a game and cheered on her team with unwavering loyalty.

Pat was very giving and would always look for a reason to give you a gift and loved spending time with her family. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved making clothing for her children's and grandchildren’s special events.

The family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday August 29, 2025 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek where services to Celebrate Pat's Life will begin at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the Music Ministry at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.
