Patrick Joseph "Pat" Howitt

Patrick Joseph "Pat" Howitt, age 96, of Battle Creek passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Laurels of Bedford. He was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on August 9, 1922, the son of Albert E. and Mary (Naish) Howitt. Pat served in the Canadian Navy and worked at the Gas Company, for Battle Creek Tile and Carpet, and as the Deputy Treasurer for Calhoun County.

Pat married the "Love of His Life" Marcia L. Counts in Battle Creek on May 23, 1975; she survives. He is also survived by his six children, Shaun, Shelagh, Patrick, Bridget, Dann and Andrew; his step-children, Terry, Lori, and Tina; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pat was a member of the Elks in Battle Creek, The Moose in Marshall and American Legion Post #298, Battle Creek. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing Bingo, playing slots at the Casino, but most of all spending time & dancing with his Beloved Wife, Marcia.

A memorial luncheon to celebrate Pat's life will be provided by the American Legion Post #298 Auxiliary at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 20th at the American Legion Post #298 228 N. 20th Street, Springfield where the family will continue to visit friends until 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the American Legion Post #298 Ladies Auxiliary.
