Pearl Caroline Barlow, 99, passed away Saturday May 11th in Battle Creek, Michigan
Born Pearl Caroline Dungey on April 18, 1925 in Kalamazoo Michigan, she was the daughter of William Orva and Florence (Simmons) Dungey. Pearl graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, where she enjoyed drama and music. In January 1944 she married James C. Barlow,Sr. She was employed at the US Register Company, and then worked for the Kellogg Company in Quality Control.
Pearl enjoyed traveling, especially to the Western US. A favorite pasttime was tending to her flower gardens and feeding the birds. She spent many years as a volunteer at the Salvation Army and enjoyed being a “bell ringer” at Christmas. The reading program for children at Ann J Kellogg school was another favorite retirement activity, along with the Red Hat Club. She was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son James, Jr. (Lynette McCurley), daughter Carolyn Misner, and son Michael (Lynn), five grandchildren, Cory Stimoff, Brandon Meisner, Caroline Finkl, Tia Jackson, and Jennifer Denton, and siblings Elwood (Delores), Henry (Juanita), Leon (Gladys) Julia Daniels and Carlton (Phyllis), and numerous great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 75 years James, Sr., brothers Lester and Richard Dungey, daughter-in-law Robin Smith and son-in-law John Misner.
Cremation has taken place and she will be lovingly placed with her husband of 75 years at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place this summer to honor her love and her dedication to her family.
