Peggy Jean Ruble passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023, in Marshall, Michigan. She was 94 years old and though frail, enjoyed remarkably good health and a clear mind right up to her last day.
Peggy was born November 17, 1928, in Los Angeles, California and grew up in various places in the LA area. Her parents were Harold and Viola Hunt and she had a half-sister Viola who predeceased her.
Her course in life was altered at age 16 when she heard and believed the Gospel of Jesus. Relationships with her new friends led eventually to Peggy’s marriage to Maurice Ruble in 1948. They settled in Battle Creek, Michigan where they raised four children: Michael (Dorothy), Kathleen Stoeckley (Thomas), Philip (Pamela) and Karen Belanger (Patrick). Husband Maurice died in 1994. Son Philip died in 2012; the other children survive her. Peggy also had eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Peggy’s life revolved around her family and her faith in God. Over her long life she enjoyed a large circle of treasured friends, young and old. Hers were steady hands in guiding the family household and later in graceful independent living.
A funeral service will be held at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home in Battle Creek, Michigan on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Friends are invited to visit the family beginning at 12:00 p.m. The service will be livestreamed and may be viewed at https://vimeo.com/event/3822286. Interment will be next to her husband in the Ft. Custer National Cemetery in Battle Creek, Michigan.
