Peggy Lee Thompson of Battle Creek, Michigan passed away suddenly at home June 10th, 2016. She was born June 10, 1939 to Cecil and Anne (McFarland) Long. Cecil would eventually move his blossoming family to Michigan for work. They would reside in Vicksburg, where Peggy attended high school until her graduation. From there the family would move to Plainwell.
Peggy is survived by her three children Michelle Renee Black (Rodney), Howard Perry Thompson (Addella Barroso), and Candace Sims (Danny). She is also survived by six grandsons Jerry, Christopher, Daniel, Patrick, Johnathon, Eric, and one granddaughter Rachelle; fifteen Great Grandchildren Collin, Cody, Daniel II, Antonio, Nehemiah, Gabriel, Tagen, Zander, Brady, Tyler, Alize, Kinley, Delanie, Autumn, and Kelsey. She is also survived by her Three siblings Micheal, Stephen, and Kathy Long.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Anne; two of her siblings Jimmy and Edward Long, and her husband Howard Thompson, Sr.
Peggy was employed by Parker Hannifin in her early years and would eventually retire from Keyes Davis. Bored with retirement, she would go back to work for Cracker Barrel as well as Kmart in the Garden Shop. Peggy was a member of the Eagles and the Elks Lodge for many years.
She was an avid bowler for many years. Peggy enjoyed Bowling in her leagues with her friends. She also was a coach on the city youth leagues. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and loved her plants.
Peggy will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
A memorial service was held 3pm Friday, June 17, 2016 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Contributions in Peggy's name may be made to the Humane Society of SC Michigan.
