Peter John "Pete" Beguhl

Pete, age 63, died peacefully Saturday evening, March 28, 2026 at Sue’s Loving Care, Kalamazoo, MI, after surviving with Parkinson’s for 12 years.

Pete, the son of Dean D. and Norma J. (Smith) Beguhl (both former employees of Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home), was born on November 8, 1962 in Wessington Springs, South Dakota.

Pete attended Roberts Wesleyan College in New York, but quickly pivoted to a lifelong career in his personal interest, computer science. His longest-held position was Senior Service Desk Analyst, keeping computers running at Maria Parham Hospital in North Carolina. He enjoyed games of many sorts, playing card games with family, video games with his daughter, and sports of many kinds. In his youth, he once tried out for the Buffalo Bills as a linebacker and continued to follow and support them, along with his other hometeams, the Carolina Panthers and the Michigan Lions.

He was a gentle, patient soul. He would always choose peace in most situations. Endlessly selfless, even to his own detriment. Strong in body and spirit.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Annie A. Beguhl of Tucson, AZ; his brother, Kenneth L. “Kenny” Beguhl of North Chili, NY; brother-in-law, Stephen P. “Steve” Claussen of Richland, MI; niece Keziah J. “Kezi” (Preston) Hoxworth of Battle Creek, MI, nephew, Aaron D. Claussen of Richland, MI and a niece, Natalie J. Beguhl of Spencerport, NY. Pete was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lori Jean Claussen on August 7, 2025.

As per Pete’s wishes, cremation will take place and his cremated remains will be interred in Prairie Home Cemetery, Richland, MI next to his parents and sister, with a private family service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Parkinson’s Research. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Pre-Need Care, Richland Chapel is handling Pete’s arrangements.
