Peter G. Knibloe

March 26, 1935 — January 23, 2022

Peter G. Knibloe, of Gull Lake, Michigan died Sunday, January 23, 2022, age 86.

The son of John and Ruth (Dabbert) Knibloe, Pete was born in Jackson, Michigan on March 26, 1935. Pete married his college sweetheart, Carole Rice, on December 29, 1957 at Kanley Chapel in Kalamazoo. He is survived by a daughter, Jill (Richard) Wright of Idaho Falls, Idaho; two sons, Daniel Knibloe of Las Vegas, Nevada and Andrew Knibloe of Kalamazoo; a sister, Carol Lent of Jackson, Michigan; and two granddaughters, Leslie and Hannah Wright. Pete was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a brother, David Knibloe.

After graduating from Albion College, Pete and Carole moved to the Lansing area, where he began his 35-year career with Michigan National Bank. They moved to the Kalamazoo area in 1977 when Pete was promoted to President of the bank's Kalamazoo region. They spent the last 25 years of their 62-year marriage at Gull Lake where they designed, built and furnished their dream home. They loved spending time entertaining friends, family and particularly their granddaughters during the summer months.

Pete was a highly skilled craftsman with an incredible work ethic and attention to detail. He was most often found in his workshop building furniture, wood carving, restoring antique cars and building wooden boats. Master woodworker, mechanic, designer — "handyman" does not begin to describe his skillset. Pete was always generous with his time and happy to help family, friends and neighbors with their projects. He continued taking on new challenges and developing the skills needed to complete his creations with beautiful results.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Pete's life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Pete's memory may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 8047 Church Street, Richland, Michigan 49083.

The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting Pete's family. Personal messages and favorite memories of Pete may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
