Philip "Phil" Brian Edwards

Philip Brian Edwards, age 49, of Battle Creek unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday morning, August 22, 2017. He was born in Battle Creek on May 27, 1968, and was the loving son of Mary & Vic Willerick and Christopher Alan Edwards. Phil graduated from Lakeview High School with the Class of 1986 and faithfully served his country as a member of the Old Guard with the United States Army serving as a White House Guard and Tomb Guard at Arlington National Cemetery.

Phil is survived by his parents, Mary & Vic of Battle Creek and Christopher of Virginia; his fiancee', Cheryl Goppert of Florida; his step-brother, Chad (Kerry) Willerick; his step-sister, Cheryl Willerick; his "Band of Brothers" and many friends around the world.

A true gentleman, Phil was truly one of the kindest and gentlest men you would ever meet, and he would do anything for his family and friends. He enjoyed bartending, playing golf, throwing darts, going to Battle Creek Bombers games, shooting his guns, and rooting for his Washington Redskins and Maryland Terrapins. Most of all, Phil loved spending time with his family, his beloved cats, and his many dear friends. Phil will be missed by all who were Blessed to have known him.

The family will receive friends 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 28th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where services to celebrate Phil's life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, August 29th. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. The family will continue the celebration of Phil's life with a Potluck (Phil's favorite) at the American Legion Post#298 228, North 20th Street, immediately following the military service at Fort Custer.
