Ralph DiVitto, age 97, of Battle Creek passed away Sunday November 11, 2018, in his home, surrounded by family. He was born August 21, 1921, in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Giovanni DiVitto and Antonette (Gianfrancesco) DiVitto.
Ralph grew up in the Detroit area where he attended school and lived with his family. In 1942, he joined the U.S. Army and served during the Pacific War stationed on the island of Papua New Guinea. He was honorably discharged with two bronze stars in 1945. Ralph married in 1946 to his beloved wife, Suzanne DiVitto.
Ralph enjoyed life, his family and friends, and was passionate about cars of all types, but especially Ford model T's and his blue Dodge Super Bee. He also enjoyed reading and learning history, gardening, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ralph is survived by his two sisters, Lucia Tomei and Gloria Dykas;, his children, Randy DiVitto, Giovanni DiVitto and Raffaele DiVitto; step-children; Lynn DeRushia and Cherie DeRushia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Giovanni and Antonette (Gianfrancesco) DiVitto; his wife, Suzanne DiVitto; and step-son, Robin Joseph DeRushia.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday November 14th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 15th.
