Ramona Joan "Mona" (Roush) Colvin

Ramona Joan (Roush) Colvin, 92, of Augusta, Michigan died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Mona was born February 12, 1934, the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Long) Roush.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin Franklin Colvin; children, Stephanie (Timothy Dykgraaf) Green of Richland; Stephen (Cheryl Van Horn) Lepper, Timothy (Tamie) Lepper, James (Amy) Jenkins, and step‑daughter Anita Reagle, all of Battle Creek; 18 grandchildren; 35 great‑grandchildren; 22 great‑great‑grandchildren; sister, Norma (Harold) Sheckles of Fremont, Indiana; her dear friend, Olga Navarro; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael R. Lepper, who died at birth March 30, 1951; her lifelong friend Margie Williams; her parents; and her former husbands, Jerry Lepper and Marvin Jenkins.

Mona was fun‑loving, spirited, and full of life. She was soft‑spoken, laid‑back, and warm‑hearted, yet carried a strong will that made her uniquely herself. Her loving presence made people feel cared for, and she had a special gift for making each member of her family feel like they were her favorite. She was the ultimate shopper and could get lost in stores for hours. She loved swimming and boating and found beauty in nature. She will be remembered as full of love and a sweet soul, missed by many, and honored for the full life she lived.

Mona was surrounded by her many grandchildren, and she made every effort to be present for their special occasions — birthdays, celebrations, school events, and milestones. She didn’t hesitate to travel wherever they were, showing up proud of every one of them and making each grandchild feel seen and cherished. Mona loved her pets as well, and Tango is missing her, a reminder of how deeply she was loved by every part of her family.

Mona and her sister, Norma, were close in age and grew up together in Union City as the only siblings, sharing a lifelong bond that distance never changed. They married brothers and together raised all boys, with Stephanie as the only girl between them, lovingly known as “their girl,” and Mona’s relationship with her grew into its own special closeness. They were best friends, sharing everyday moments, laughter, and a deep connection that stayed strong throughout Mona’s life.

Her final days reflected exactly who she was — joyful, loving, and surrounded by family. In her last month, she was able to visit with Norma, serve as the Tea Party Matriarch, attend a family reunion, and spend time at home enjoying the yard and Tango. Her last day was spent out on Gull Lake with Stephanie and Luke, enjoying the water she loved so much.

A celebration of life gathering will be held at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care on August 2, 2026, from 1:30–4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at a later date.
