Raycharles Frederick

Raycharles Frederick, age 63, of Battle Creek departed this life on Monday evening, March 20, 2017. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 6, 1953, the son of Irene Frederick and Frank Mitchell. Raycharles was raised by his mom who stood on the words of Proverbs 22:6. He attended Southeastern Junior High, Kellogg Community College and had an Associates Degree in business. Raycharles was a well dresser, loved money, accepted Christ, and asked GOD to forgive him for his sins and was baptized. Raycharles had the privilege of being on the Putting on the Hits as The BC Temps, and had his own bookstore called Ray's Christian Bookstore in Battle Creek.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Frederick; his special friend, Michelle Austin who stuck by him to the end; his daughters, Michelle Thomas of Detroit, Shannon Hadley of Battle Creek, Sheila Frederick of Detroit, Raychelle Frederick of Southfield, Michiala Frederick of Battle Creek, and Ta'Niya Miller of Battle Creek; his sons, Raycharles White, Ray Frederick, Jermaine Frederick, and Maurice Frederick, all of Battle Creek; sisters, Leatrice Dunkin and Vera Small, both from Battle Creek, Carolyn Frederick, of Inkster, and Sandra Washington of Ypsilanti; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Ray's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2017 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where a family hour will be held 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
