Raymond Arthur "Ray" Anderson

Raymond A. "Ray" Anderson, 86 of Battle Creek died at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence with his family at his side on Monday, May 13, 2019, after being ill for a number of years.

Ray was born May 3, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Elmer C. and Margaret (Elliott) Anderson. He grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Ray served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was the co-owner and operator of Mid-Michigan Surgical and Medical Supply in Battle Creek. Prior to that owned & operated Ray's Phillip 66 Station in Battle Creek.

Ray was formerly married to Nancy Maximoff and Barbara Walker. Surviving are four children, Robert A. "Bobby" Anderson of Battle Creek, Robert W. "Bob" (Mary) Anderson of Battle Creek, Renee Adele of Maine, Steve W. (Jan) Anderson of Charlotte, MI; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a special friend, Cynthia Stone. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Elmer, Lee and Chick.

Ray enjoyed working, his dogs and Chicago baseball. He was a former member of the Lions Club and AARP. Ray loved tractors, cars and his property on Lake Michigan. He will be remembered as salty, eccentric and as a hardworking man.

Per Ray's wishes, a private service will be held later for his family at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Ray's memory may be made to Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence.
