Raymond Louis Shippell

Raymond Louis Shippell, 77 of Battle Creek and formerly of Marshall died peacefully with his family at his side on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence.

Raymond Louis Shippell was born July 20, 1943, in Big Rapids, Michigan the son of Louis Howard and Lena Elzina (Denniston) Shippell. He graduated from Marshall High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Ray retired from C.A. Picard in 2009, where he was employed as a metal worker.

Ray was formerly married to Karen Marie Wine. Surviving are a son, Yancey Shippell; twin daughters, Tami Wine and Traci Wine all of Battle Creek; three sisters, Helen Willison of Mason, Marilyn Potter and Ruth Stout both of Marshall; two brothers, Don (Nancy) Shippell and Paul (Sue) Shippell both of Marshall and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families. Ray was preceded in death by his parents.

Ray loved fishing and bowling. He bowled on several leagues in Battle Creek, Kalamazoo and Marshall area. He would fish every chance that he could, mostly on area lakes and rivers. He also enjoyed feeding and watching the birds. He was a very quiet but fun loving person.

Per Ray's wishes, he will be cremated and his cremated remains will be respectfully scattered by his family. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of S.W. Michigan for Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence.
