Rebecca Lynn (Walter) Comport

d. December 15, 2020

Rebecca Lynn "Becky" (Walter) Comport, 71, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died peacefully and unexpectedly at Bronson Battle Creek on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

Becky was born in Battle Creek to John Robert and Edythe I. (Whitney) Walter. She was a 1967 graduate of Harper Creek High School and later enrolled in accounting classes at Kellogg Community College. Becky retired in 2015 from the accounting department at Eaton Corporation in Galesburg, where she was employed for 30 years.

Becky married Ken Comport on the riverbanks near the Kellogg House in downtown Battle Creek on May 21, 1993. Surviving are her husband Ken, daughter and son-in-law Wendi and Mark Donahue of Nashville, TN, two stepsons Anthony and Nick Comport both of Portage, granddaughter Hannah Comport, special family friend, Corporal Tyler Bowling in Texas, sister Julie Lepper of East Leroy, a nephew, Greg (Eileen) Fountain, their daughter Ally, and numerous cousins and their families. Both her parents and a brother-in-law Darrell Lepper preceded her in death.

Becky enjoyed being home and spending time with her husband, friends and family the most. She loved traveling to see her daughter in Nashville, going on family trips including Hawaii, Mexico, Jamaica, North Carolina and spending time in Saint Petersburg, Florida where the family had gone to since she was young with her grandparents. She loved going to several concerts together with Wendi, especially Bob Seger. Becky was excellent with finances, loved shopping and was always looking for the best bargain. She loved spending time gardening flowers and vegetables and making sure Ken was watering them properly. Becky will be remembered for dressing for the occasion and if you were going with her … you had better be dressed to her standards. She had a "look", she could be stern but caring, loving, always helpful and loved to tease and laugh.

Friends will be received with social distance in mind from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, December 18th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A formal service to celebrate Becky's life will be officiated by Rev. Patricia J. Weatherwax 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020. Friday's visitation will be rotating 25 people inside for a limited time to allow everyone their peace.
The Saturday service is limited to 25 people inside.
