Rebecca L. "Becky" VanVleet, age 44, of Battle Creek, sadly passed away at her home on Saturday evening, November 25, 2017. She was born in Battle Creek on January 20, 1973, and was the loving daughter of Randy G. and Crystal M. (VanVleet) Mercer. Becky was featured as the 1980-1981 Poster Child for the March of Dimes.
Becky is survived by her parents, Crystal & Randy Mercer of Battle Creek; her sister, Tabatha (Curtis) Jones of Indiana; her fiancée, Toby Bolinger; maternal grandfather, Harvey VanVleet; paternal grandmother, Dawn Mercer; six nieces, Chelsea, Natasha, Sydney, Aubrey, Valerie, Alivia; and three nephews, Darrin, Nolan, and Kristofer. She was sadly preceded in death by her sister, Desa A. Mills; maternal grandmother, Lyleen Baker; and paternal grandfather, Ronald Mercer Sr.
Becky enjoyed CP Sports and participating in the Special Olympics. She was an avid Detroit Tigers and WWE Wrestling fan and also enjoyed bowling, arts & crafts, and doing karaoke with her friends. A very loving person, Becky truly loved spending time with her family and taking care of her nieces & nephews.
The family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Becky's life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 1, 2017. Interment will follow at Hicks Cemetery. Donations in Becky's memory may be directed to the March of Dimes or the Cancer Care Center at Bronson Battle Creek.
