Rex Lee Eddy of Battle Creek, MI

Rex,age 76, died Tuesday afternoon, April 4, 2017 at Calhoun County Medical Care Facility of Battle Creek, with his loving family at his side.

Rex, the son of Harold L. and Flossie B. (Winchell) Eddy, was born in Homer, MI on November 18, 1940. Several years after leaving high school at age 16, he completed and received his high school diploma in 1986 from Harper Creek High School. He served his Country honorably as a Sergeant in the Michigan Army National Guard. He was federalized during the Detroit and Essex Riots. Rex was employed at Cut Rate Super Market and Clyde/Union Pump before starting at Kellogg Company in 1967. He retired in 1995 after 28 ½ years of faithful service with the Kellogg Company working mostly in the warehouse. To keep busy following retirement, he worked several places including; Burnham Brook, Meijer, Gordon's Food Service, Pizza Hut, Office One, among many others. Rex was a member of Minges Hills Church of God; Calvary Baptist Church; Kellogg 25 Year Club; National Rifle Association; Michigan Conservation Club; Battle Creek Sportsman Club, which he was the Secretary, set-up the new rifle range and was a rifle instructor. He had a wood working shop in his home and donated many of his works to the Church.

Rex was united in marriage to Georgia O. (David) in Battle Creek on September 19, 1964. Surviving is his wife of 52 1/2 years, Georgia; his two daughters, Annette M. (Eric) Bell and Mellissa R. Castor, both of Battle Creek; five precious grandchildren, Alecia BellDean, David Rapp, Ethan Bell, Aaron Bell and Joshua Bell; two great grandchildren and five foster children over his lifetime with Georgia. Rex was preceded in death by his parents.

The Funeral Service to celebrate Rex's life will be held on Saturday, April 8th at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1625 Capital Avenue, NE, Battle Creek, MI 49017, with Rev. Thomas C. Townsend, Pastor, officiating. Family and friends will continue Rex's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon immediately following the Service in the Church Social Hall. Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Homer, MI with military honors bestowed by the Michigan Army National Guard. Rex's family will greet friends on Friday, April 7th from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun County Medical Care Facility, 1150 E. Michigan Avenue, Battle Creek, MI 49014 or Calvary Baptist Church (see address above).
