Richard Lee Fox of Springfield, MI
Richard, age 83, went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening, December 27, 2014. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
Richard was born on August 24, 1931 in Battle Creek to Albert Raymond Fox and Beulah Irene (Weaver) Fox. He attended Springfield schools and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the class of 1950. Richard served proudly and nobly for 4 years in the United States Navy on board the USS Chara as cook/baker during the Korean War and he received many medals for his service. He worked for Clark Equipment as a welder for 32 years retiring in 1983. He then worked at the SW Capital Avenue McDonalds for 7 years. Richard was very devoted to his family; enjoyed inventing things; fishing; bowling; camping and reading. He was an avid Tigers and Lions fan.
Richard was married in Battle Creek on October 14, 1950 to Marilyn Wolfersberger. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marilyn; five daughters, Diana (Ron) Funk, Kathy (Mark) Hoke , Julie Fox, Sheri Fox, and Angela Fox, all of Battle Creek, MI; fourteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren and his cat, Sassy. Richard was preceded in death by his parents.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Richard's life will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, Battle Creek, with the Rev. Robert G. Muirhead of Battle Creek, officiating. Richard's family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Memorial contributions in Richard's honor may be directed to the American Heart Association, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
