Richard "Dick" Kik, III of Richland, MI
Dick, age 77, died unexpectedly Monday morning, (his birthday) August 8, 2022 at his residence.
Dick, the son of Dr. Richard and Betty Mae (Jackson) Kik, Jr., was born in Kalamazoo, MI on August 8, 1945; was a lifetime area resident and a 1963 graduate of Richland High School. He retired in 2007 after 19 years at Jarvis-Pemco, Inc. of Kalamazoo, MI as a shipping supervisor. Dick was a 32nd Degree Mason; a member of the Lakes Area Conservation Club; a member of the Kalamazoo Rod & Gun Club and a member of the Southern Michigan Gun Club. Dick was an avid shooter and an excellent marksman who enjoyed competitive rifle, pistol, skeet, trap and sporting clays for many years. Dick was a keen reader and a great storyteller who especially enjoyed history.
Dick was united in marriage to the former Marilyn J. Hartley, in Richland on December 31, 2000 and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Rebekah (John Cox) Kik of Kalamazoo and Kathryn (Jason) Bryant of Portage, MI; two sons, Ken (Angela) Kik of Danville, KY and Richard (Rebecca) Kik, IV of Detroit, MI; three step-daughters, Randi Fisher and Tara (Michael) Dzirbowicz, both of Rockford, MI and Mary Mazurek of Kentwood, MI; fourteen precious grandchildren and 3+ great grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marshal E. "Mark" Kik on June 10, 2009.
The Service to celebrate Dick's life will be held on Saturday, August 13th at Noon at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel, 9170 East D Avenue (M-89), with Rev. Ian Boley, Pastor of the Gull Lake United Methodist Church, officiating. The family will greet friends on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dick's honor may be directed to U.S.A. Shooting, 1 Olympic Plaza, Colorado Springs, CO 80909. The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting Dick's family.
