Richard Lynn "Dick" Treadwell, age 88, of Battle Creek died peacefully on Monday evening, December 22, 2014 at the Lifespan Good Samaritan Hospice Residence. He was born in Jackson, Michigan on February 7, 1926, the loving son of Warren and Gretchen (Losey) Treadwell. Dick faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army during WWII in the European Theater.
Dick married the "Love of His Life", Patricia A. "Pat" Humiston at the Baseline United Methodist Church on October 16, 1948; she survives. He is also survived by three children, James (Colette) Treadwell of Battle Creek, Judy Robertson of Denver, Colorado, and Dave Treadwell of Battle Creek; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Gloria Treadwell of Battle Creek, and a sister, Jean VanSyckle of Homestead, Florida. Dick was sadly preceded in death by his son, Paul Treadwell in 2001, and a sister, Jane "Peg" Bieri in 2001.
Dick was a retired Teamster, farmed for many years and enjoyed his John Deere tractors and "tinkering". He was also an avid Detroit Tigers fan, and loved spending time with his family.
The family will receive friends 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Baseline United Methodist Church, 9617 Baseline Road, Battle Creek, MI 49017 where funeral services to celebrate Dick's life will held at 11:00 a.m., Monday. Interment with full military honors will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Fort Custer National Cemetery.
