Richard Dick Nelson

Richard C. "Dick" Nelson, 56, of Battle Creek, died July 4, 2013. Dick was born June 28, 1957 in Battle Creek to John and Irene (Merriman) Nelson. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School in 1975 and got his Associate's Degree at Kellogg Community College.

Dick worked for many years at the S.H.A.R.E. Center in Battle Creek. Dick loved music and played in the Battle Creek Symphony when he was younger. He was also a gourmet cook, and had a special passion for his dogs, Billy Holiday Nelson, Charlie Parker Nelson, Koko Taylor Nelson, Max Jones Nelson and Buddy Guy Nelson.

Dick married Tana Reynolds on August 25, 1996 in Battle Creek, who survives. Also surviving are his four step-children, Elizabeth Drake, Tana Malkawi, Brian Drake and Dr. Aaron Drake; six step-grandchildren and many cousins. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John Nelson and his sister, Melody Nelson.

Cremation has taken place and the Funeral Liturgy to celebrate Dick's life will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home.
