Richard Eugene Peterson, age 87, of Battle Creek passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016.
He was born March 13, 1929 in Battle Creek to Fay and Pauline (Dilsaver) Peterson and baptized at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening and working on his house. He was also a machinist at United Steel & Wire Co. for 42 years. On October 17, 1949, Richard was united in marriage to Marjorie Marie VanDyke.
Richard is survived by his children, Thomas "Tommy" Peterson, Robin (David Merriman) DeNicola, and Terry (Kelly) Peterson; grandson, Michael Sampson; several nieces, nephews and his best friend and dog, Buster. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Richard Peterson Jr., daughter, Lorie A. Salvat, sister, Betty Fields and brother, James Peterson.
Richard's family is being assisted by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A private graveside service will be held for Richard and Marjorie at a later date. Personal messages for Richard's family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
