Richard D. Sampson, 81, of Battle Creek, and formerly of Anderson, Indiana died Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025. He was born in Battle Creek on May 26,1944, the son of Charles and Fannie (Salyer) Sampson. He served in the 107th Ordnance Battalion of the Michigan National Guard for several years and held many jobs, including at the Kellogg Arena. Richard enjoyed watching game shows, racing & NASCAR.
Richard married Elizabeth “Betsey” Brown on June 14, 1996; she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Rich (Tena) Sampson of Hastings, Scott Sampson of Battle Creek; his daughter, Doris Sampson of Battle Creek; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews around Battle Creek, Albion and Anderson, Indiana. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Elaine Hendrix and Gloria Albin; and his brothers, Floyd, Velgene and Harlo Sampson.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2025 at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials directed to Centrica Care Navigators (Hospice), would be appreciated. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek.
