Robert Seth "Bob" Allwardt of Kalamazoo, MI
Bob made his transition August 16, 2015 after a courageous fight with cancer. He was born May 13, 1949 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Robert Knaupp and Barbara Allwardt. He attended public schools in Grand Rapids and Battle Creek, Michigan and graduated from Western Michigan University. Known for his quick wit and sarcasm you could always find him laughing, listening to a good story, reading or working on a project. He worked for many years in the steel industry, he was known to business professionals as "Doc Steel" formally employed at Kalamazoo Steel then later TSA Processing of Chicago, Illinois. His work ethic translated to his personal life, he was an exercise enthusiast who could often be found cycling in the Southwest Michigan area or taking a Yoga class. He had a zest for life and loved his family.
Bob is survived by his daughter Brigitte Christmon (Alvin) of Columbus, OH, two sons, Brooks "Spike" Allwardt of Rochester MI, Mark Allwardt (Kalamazoo), grandchildren Angel & "AJ," Brother Gordon Allwardt (Joanie) Malcomb NE, Sister Esther Melshenker (Albert) Agoura Hills CA, nephews Gene, Mike and Chuck Melshenker all of Southern California, a host cousins, and friends who are faithful to him until the end.
The Memorial Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Friday, August 21st at 1:00 p.m. at the Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 3210 Virginia Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49004. Final interment will be in Yorkville Cemetery, Ross Township at a later date. There will be no visitation and the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel (269-629-6022) is assisting Bob's family.
