Robert C. "Bob" Beecher of Battle Creek, MI
Bob, age 84, died Tuesday afternoon, February 6, 2018 at his residence and with his loving family at his side.
Bob, the son of A.E. and Rose (McGovern) Beecher, was born in Chicago, IL on December 20, 1933; moved to Michigan in late 1940's and then back to Illinois. He was a 1950 graduate of Hastings (MI) High School. Bob retired in 1988 after 33 years of faithful service with the Battle Creek Police Department, first as a Patrolman and then a Detective. He enjoyed reading and watching movies.
Bob was united in marriage to the former Helen M. Campbell in Chicago, IL on September 8, 1951 and soon after moved to Michigan. Surviving is his wife of over 66 years, Helen; eight children, Robert (Wol Kyun) Beecher, Catherine (Paul) Higgins, Terese (Ted) Koch, Mary Ford, Timothy (Lynette) Beecher, Patricia (William) Vaughan, Valerie Samuels and Michael Beecher; by 24 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; five sisters; and one grandson.
Bob's family will greet friends on Sunday, February 11th from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, where the Parish Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, February 12th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 92 N. Capital Avenue, with Father John D. Fleckenstein, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek. Family and friends will return to the St. Philip Parish Center immediately following the committal to continue Bob's life celebration with a time of fellowship and a luncheon. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution in Bob's honor may be directed to the St. Philip Catholic High School or the Battle Creek Area Catholic Schools.
