Robert John "Bob" Bennett

Robert J. "Bob" Bennett, 72, of Battle Creek, MI, ended his journey March 7, 2018, after a long term illness.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, M. Lynne (Anderson) Bennett; daughters Anitra (Daniel) Townsend of Wisconsin Dells, WI and Allison (Kurt) Roelofs of Royal Oak, MI; loving grandchildren Vivienne and Owen Bruce Townsend and Kalli, Kolbie and Klara Roelofs; siblings Barbara (Bob) Drake of Charlottesville, VA, David (Hellen) Bennett of Ann Arbor, MI, Colleen Drake of Charlottesville, VA, Gail (John) Ostrowski of Battle Creek, MI, and Jim (Deb Martens-Bennett) Bennett of Mason, MI; in-laws Ron and Sherry Anderson of Battle Creek, MI; and his many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Dorris (Fish) Bennett of Bellevue, MI and Clair Bennett of Ocala, FL; in-laws Robert and Ethelyn "Evie" Anderson of Port Charlotte, FL; and grandchildren Huckleberry Wakeham and Kacie Jill Roelofs.
Bob was a proud husband and father, kind and gentle and possessed a dry humor and wit, loving to make his family laugh. He attended Bellevue Schools, University of Michigan, Olivet College and Central Michigan University, earning his MBA. He was an employee of the City of Battle Creek, SEIU Union local president and refereed volleyball and basketball throughout the city. Bob played Valley Pool and his passion for golf with his wife and friends in leagues and tournaments, earned him a Hole-in-One. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #299, serving as secretary. Bob enjoyed boating, spending many summers in Lake City, MI on Lake Missaukee, watching James Bond movies and getting dressed "to the nines" for steakhouse dinners.
On March 4, a united family celebrated with Bob the good old times had by all. Honoring Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held on Agate Beach, Lake Superior. The family wishes to thank Reverence Home Hospice for guidance in making Bob comfortable throughout his journey.
