Robert J Birkholm

Robert John Birkholm, 75, of Scotts, MI passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 28, 2022. He was born December 7, 1946, to John and Mae (Weichel) Birkholm.

He attended and played sports at Portage Central high school where he graduated from in 1966. After high school he served our country in Germany while being in the army. Robert loved to play golf and cribbage. He enjoyed nature immensely and could often be found creating elf doors in tree trunks and even has a "Bigfoot" displayed in his yard.

Robert and Phyllis were married for nearly forty-three years and would have celebrated their anniversary on October 3. He was a very caring and helpful man; he loved his family and home in the countryside the most.

Robert is survived by his wife, Phyllis; stepsons, Rick (Michele) MacPherson, and Doug MacPherson; step grandson, Ian MacPherson all of South Carolina; half sisters, Betty Phillips of Dowagiac, MI, Carole Hepworth of Fort Wayne, IN; uncle, Henry Olson of Frederic, MI; sisters in law, Dee Carlson of VA, and Marlene Carlson of IL; brother in law, Geoffrey (Terry) Enlund of TN; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his adoptive parents, John and Mae Birkholm; his birth parents, Theodore and Mary Carlson; half-brothers, Stan, James, Richard, and Murl Carlson; half-sister Doris; as well as his beloved pets, Jedi, Scruffy, and Emma.

Interment will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
