Robert Darkey, age 70, born December 14, 1955, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2026

Rob will be remembered for his kind, generous and loving heart. He always thought of others. He served in the United States Air Force for many years and was stationed in various countries throughout the world, serving as a sergeant and radio operator. He attended Battle Creek Central was a graduate of East Kentwood high school. He also went to Grand Rapids community college for several years.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Robert and Marge Darkey, and his sister, Candy Johnson. He is survived by his daughter, Dr. Shannon, Do and his sisters, Janna Arsulowicz (Stanley), Karla Reilly, (Patrick), Dawn (Melvin) Karnhem, and Bonnie Darkey. He is also survived by his partner, Betty Yother; children, Nicole (Yother) Virgil, Cal Yother and grandchildren, Luke, Ryan, Kenneth, Emma, Shia, Nyjhere, Zyere, Nariah, Tayveon, Kalaijah and Tyshawn.

He also cherished the relationship he had with his many nieces and nephews, aunts, cousins and numerous friends. His smile could light up a room. Rob always thought of others before himself. He loved all his family and enjoyed family get togethers.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army. Personal messages for Rob’s family may be shared at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
