Robert J. Frazier, 91, of Battle Creek died at Brookdale Senior Living Clare Bridge Cottage on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.
Robert was born August 18, 1923, in Battle Creek, Michigan to John B. and Cecile (Dacon) Frazier. Bob grew up in Battle Creek and was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School. He then honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII. Bob retired as an instrument repair specialist in 1986, after 40 years with the Kellogg Company.
Bob was united in marriage to Ruth Kathleen Brimmer on November 1, 1946, after a neighborhood friendship that began at the age of 13. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth on November 24, 2001; and by his brother John B. Frazier, who has been missing in action since WWII, while serving as a Lt. with the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are two daughters, Linda M. Frazier of Battle Creek, Mary E. (Scott) Brownell of Marshall; a son, John B. Frazier of Battle Creek; three grandchildren, Emily Wright, Robert Brownell, Cassandra Frazier; and 2.8 great-grandchildren, Logan Wright, Aubrey Morse and Alexander Thrush due in October.
Bob was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. For many years, Bob and his family rented a cabin for a week in Tawas City, where lifelong friends and memories were made. After he retired, he and Ruth wintered in Lakeland, FL, were he golfed and played shuffleboard. He was mechanically inclined, built their first home with his father and was always willing to help his family with wiring and other household challenges. Bob enjoyed golfing, watching golf on TV, observing people; and the classic music of Sinatra, Nat King Cole and all the other greats of his generation. Bob loved nature, being outside and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Friends will be received 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 15, 2014. Military honors and interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
