Robert Duane "Bob" Jones of Battle Creek, MI
Bob, age 89, died unexpectedly Monday evening, December 16, 2019 at his residence.
Bob, the son of Dewey and Caroline (Marshall) Jones, was born in Barry County, MI; was a lifetime area resident and a 1948 graduate of Nashville (MI) High School. He retired in 1985 after 37 years of faithful service to Kellogg Company, mostly in the paper and carton department. Bob was a life member of the Michigan Harness Horsemen's Association after being involved with harness racing for more than 25 years. He was also a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club.
Bob was united in marriage to the former, Hilda R. Roberts in Nashville MI on December 11, 1948. Surviving is his wife of 71 years, Hilda "Hula"; his two daughters, Gale Lee Jones of Los Angeles, CA and Debbie A. Horrocks of Oak Ridge, TN; a granddaughter, Melissa A. (Steven) Little of Knoxville, TN; a special great granddaughter, Katie Little, a junior at Maryville (TN) College and a step great grandson, Steven Little, Jr. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jean Jones and Joyce Lamie; his brother, Dewey J. Jones and his son-in-law, Thomas F. Horrocks.
The Funeral Service to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Saturday, December 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Battle Creek, with the Rev. Chad Parmalee, Pastor of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, officiating. Bob's family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wilcox Cemetery, Nashville, MI.
