Robert Llewellyn, Sr.

May 25, 1934 — May 31, 2018

Robert "Bob" Lewis Llewellyn was born on May 25th, 1934, in Sherwood, Michigan, to Gladys Mae Llewellyn (nee Larrabee), and Orville Llewellyn. He was 84 years old. He lived at Bedford Manor Apartments in Battle Creek. Bob died at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek, on May 31st, 2018 of complications from pneumonia.

Bob joined the United States Air Force, and when he returned to Battle Creek, he had odd jobs repairing cars, radios, and televisions. He also drove a cab, tow truck, and ambulance and had a job as a security guard. As he raised his family, he worked in machine shops, including Aero Mobile and Battle Creek Equipment Company where he took an early retirement. To keep himself busy, he took a dishwasher position at Finley's (f.k.a., Mr. Steak) on Columbia Avenue. He quickly became a prep cook and eventually one of the managers. After retiring a second time, he took a custodial job at First Congregational Church on Capital Avenue NE. He then worked at Post Gardens caring for the various flowers and plants and was finally successful at retiring.

Bob enjoyed camping, fishing, travel, and being outdoors. He also liked Westerns, Sci-Fi - especially Star Trek, and music. Wherever he went, he enjoyed good conversation and banter, always making new friends.

In his retirement, Bob began showing signs of Parkinson's disease and other ailments, but always kept a good attitude. He participated in day programs at Centracare and made many friends there. He also had many friends at the Bedford Manor Apartments.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda (Carter) Llewellyn, after 40 years of marriage. He leaves behind nine children: Janice Bowser, Keith Favreau, Esther Russell, Suzanne Russell, Debbie Bishop, Robert Llewellyn Jr., Nicole Marriott, Liz Green, and Samantha Llewellyn. Bob also has 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
