Robert M. "Bob" Colburn

Robert M. "Bob" Colburn, age 73, of Battle Creek passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 28, 2019. He was born in Middlesex, England on February 23, 1946, the son of the late Richard F. and the late Joan D. "Penny" (Heidler) Colburn. Bob graduated from Lakeview High School and retired from the City of Kalamazoo after more than 25 years of service.

Bob was united in marriage to Carol Lee Pugh in Battle Creek on August 14, 1971; she sadly preceded him in death on August 12, 2016. Surviving are his two daughters, Heather L. Colburn and Sarah E. (Ben) Verus, both of Dowling, MI; three grandchildren, Eliot, Ian and Annie; his step-mother, Sandra Colburn of Battle Creek; a sister, Diedre (Alan) Morehouse of Massachusetts; and two brothers, Richard (Marla) Colburn of Battle Creek and Peter Colburn of Minnesota.

Bob was a member of the Barry County Conservation Club and loved being outdoors, working outside, and took great pride in his lovely lawn. He also enjoyed tinkering with cars & all types of gadgets and watching car races, but most of all he loved Sunday drives and antiquing with his beloved Carol.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 26th at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where a memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 27th with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey S. Carlson of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Memorials directed to the Humane Society of South Central Michigan and/or the American Cancer Society, would be appreciated.
