Robert Jack "Bob" Parker, 82 of Battle Creek died at Care Community on Monday, January 20, 2014.
Bob was born September 1, 1931 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Christopher and Helen (Coyn) Parker. He grew up in Battle Creek, graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and then served with the United States Marines. He retired from Post Division of Kraft / General Foods as a packaging mechanic after 30 years.
Surviving are a son, Russell J. "Rusty" Parker of Battle Creek; two granddaughters, Angela Parker and Arica Parker; a grandson, David Parker; great-grandchildren, Gaige Parker, Brionna Green, Anthony Diesel, Hanna Diesel, Austin Parker, Madison Parker, Zachary VanHoeten and Christopher Parker; a brother, Jerry "Bud" Parker of Grand Rapids; and a nephew, Kevin. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Steven Parker; a grandson, Steven Parker; a brother, David Parker and two nephews.
Bob was a sports and motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed astronomy. He was an inventor and owned several patents. Once he got an idea going, he would work on it over and over, until it was developed and ready to produce.
Funeral services will be held at Ft. Custer National Cemetery 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 24, 2014 with military honors by the Ft. Custer Honor Guard and the U. S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.
