Robert Mcclellan "Bob" Riegel

Robert M. "Bob" Riegel, age 96, of Bellevue, Michigan died Sunday, July 29, 2018 after a brief stay at the Battle Creek VA Hospice facility.

Bob was born July 11, 1922 in Schoolcraft, Michigan the son of Nicholas and Helen (Pufpaff) Riegel. Bob has resided at his home in Bellevue for the past 90+ years. He graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and then honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served as an airplane mechanic aboard the USS Hoggatt Bay. Bob was employed in the Yard Office at Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a car checker, IBM operator and truck driver, for 30 years prior to his retirement.

Robert McClellan Riegel was united in marriage to the former Rose Mary Racine at Baseline United Methodist Church on August 3, 1952. Sadly he was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Mary on April 25, 2015. Surviving are two daughters, Renēe (Tracy) Chaffee and Rhonda Stubelt both of Bellevue, Michigan; a son, Rhett M. (Sandra) Riegel of Rowlett, Texas; three grandchildren, Grant, Jared and Kendal Stubelt; a brother, Richard Riegel of Battle Creek and 2 nephews, Frank L.(Joyce) Coy and Gary (Julie) Riegel and several great nephews.

In addition to his wife, Bob was also preceded in death by his parents and his sister, June I.Coy.

He was known for repairing and restoring John Deere tractors and he loved farming and raised cattle, sheep and horses.

No public service will be held.
