Robert James "Bob" Sattler

Robert James “Bob” Sattler, age 79, of Kalamazoo, MI and formerly of Cleveland, OH died on Tuesday evening, October 14, 2025 with his loving family at his side.

Bob was born in Parma, OH on May 26, 1946, the son of Robert G. and Eleanor H. (Holeva) Sattler and moved to the Kalamazoo area in 2010. He was very proud of graduating from St. Ignatius Jesuit High School in Cleveland. He attended Ohio State University and Cleveland State University. He received his degree in nursing from St. Vincent Charity Hospital in Cleveland. He’s a retired registered nurse and served at VA hospitals in Cleveland and retired from the VA in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Bob was an active member of St. Ann’s parish in Augusta, MI. Formerly serving as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was an active member of Knights of Columbus, Saint Ann Council # 13633. He was known for his love of corvettes, Ohio State football and his family.

Bob was united in marriage to the former Geraldine “Gerry” Shannon at St. Basil The Great Catholic Church in Brecksville, OH on September 18, 1999 and she survives. Also surviving is his son, Bill (Marie) Sattler of Roebuck, SC; and daughter, Christy (Jack) Sattler of Parma Heights, OH. Also surviving is step-son, Robert (Laura) Burr of Richland, MI; step-daughter, Theresa (Luke) Ikard of Austin, TX; and six grandchildren, Deanna, Nicholas, Cassidy, Faith, Ashlynn and Luke. Bob is also survived by his brother Thomas (Lena) Sattler of Rocky River, OH and a sister, Donna Mockobey of Avon Lake, OH. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Tom Mockobey.

Gerry and the family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 22nd from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, 9170 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 where the parish rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 23rd at 11:00 am in St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012 with Monsignor Michael Osborn, Celebrant and Deacon Michael A. Carl, Assisting; and where visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 10:50 am in the Social Hall. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass in the Social Hall. Final interment will be held on Friday, October 24th at 1:00 pm in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park, OH.
