Robert G. "Bob" Willavize, age 83, of Battle Creek died Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Bronson Battle Creek. He was born in Battle Creek on September 27, 1931, the son of Gaylord and Catherine (Herbert) Willavize, and faithfully served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Bob retired from Clark Equipment Company after more than 28 years.
Bob married Delores Mae Eby in Battle Creek on May 4, 1954; she sadly preceded him in death on February 23, 2003. He is survived by his sons, Rick A. Willavize and Gary R. Willavize, both of Battle Creek; his daughters, Cheryl L. (Mike) Bock of Battle Creek and Cindy L. (Garry) Mainstone of Bellevue; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; his brothers, Jack Willavize, Larry Willavize, and a sister, Barbara Brown. Bob was also preceded in death by his daughters, Vickey K. Willavize, Christy L. Willavize, and his brothers, Francis, Russell, Richard and Leonard Willavize.
A true outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, shopping at Goodwill & garage sales, and his Pomeranians. He truly had a big heart and was always there to lend a hand and loved helping others in need. Bob was a member of the American Legion Post #298, Battle Creek for many years.
The family will receive friends 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care where funeral services to celebrate Bob's life will be held 12:00 noon, Monday, August 24, 2015. Interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the family.
