Robert D. Wolford, age 79 of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday morning, March 19, 2026. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on February 24, 1947, the son of Donald D. Wolford and Dorothy Lucille (Barnes) Wolford. Robert graduated from B.C. Central High School in 1965. Robert began a graphic artist apprenticeship in August 1966, just before being drafted into the Army in May of 1967. He served one year in Vietnam where he received three Bronze stars, the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, CIB Badge Marksman M-14, 2nd class Gunner M-60 and 50cal.
Robert enjoyed just about everything in life. He built and played guitars, built and loved dune buggies, dirt bikes, sand drags and fast cars. He was also passionate about hunting, fishing, golfing, welding, wood carving and art of all kinds. Robert could and did enjoy building just about anything. He was a jack of all trades, and a master of most.
Robert married the “Love of His Life”, Sheila Wolford (Smith) on August 23, 2002 and he loved his 23-year old cat, Taz. Robert was preceded in death by his father, mother, older brother, Donald and younger brother, Terry. Robert is survived by his wife, Sheila (Smith) Wolford; daughter, Pamela Margherita; grandchildren, Nicholas and Casey Margherita; great-grandchildren, Kaylynn and Lorenzo of Battle Creek, MI; son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Amy Case; grandchildren, Danny, Dylan, Kelsie and Travis; sister-in-law, Kathy Wolford of Tennessee; niece, Michelle (Tim Harririson); nephew, Michael Wolford; niece, Tanaya Messimer; great-nephew, Casey Wolford and great-great nephew, Daniell Wolford of Tennessee.
In honor of Roberts’ wishes, there will not be any services. Arrangements by Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Cremation Preneed Care, Battle Creek. Personal messages for the family may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
