Roberta M. Felter, 90, of Battle Creek, died Saturday, November 30, 2013. Roberta was born November 23, 1923 in Battle Creek to John and Mabel (Jenson) Hensey. Roberta married Robert Hamilton and the couple worked on their farm together before he sadly preceded her in death in 1955. Roberta then began her career at the Kellogg Company; where she worked in the glue room, print shop and the science technology department for 28 years, before her retirement in 1985. Roberta married Titus Felter in 1962, who also preceded her in death in 1980. She attended Battle Creek Central High School until the 11th grade, and later graduated from Lakeview High School in 1995 at the age of 70.
Roberta was a charter member of the Augusta Bible Church and then became a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. She enjoyed stamp and coin collecting and making ceramics, but especially loved her Bible and the Lord.
Roberta is survived by her three sons, Richard (Teresa) Hamilton, Rocky (Ja Ann) Hamilton and John (Jenny) Felter; 8 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, Robert and Titus, a brother, Kenneth Hensey, and a daughter, Ruth Diane Hamilton.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services to celebrate Roberta's life will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4. Cremation will take place and final interment will be at Bedford Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Humane Society of South Central Michigan.
