Roger Lee Stults

December 12, 1932 — April 22, 2022

Roger Lee Stults, 89, a lifelong Battle Creek resident died peacefully at Bickford Assisted Living on Friday, April 22, 2022.

Roger was born December 12, 1932 in Battle Creek to Leslie "Tim" and Pearl M. (Copeland) Stults. He attended Battle Creek Central High School and graduated from Harper Creek High School. Roger honorably served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Watts, a Fletcher class destroyer, during the Korean War. He was employed 34 years as a printer and die setter in the printing department for the Kellogg Company, prior to his retirement.

Roger was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes Marie (Smith) Stults; and his second wife, Johnnie Ruth (Reed) Stults. Surviving are his third wife, Reba Christine (Terry) Stults; daughters, Lynn Maiolo, Denise Karis, Jackie Shea all of Battle Creek and Sandi Howard of Panama City, FL; son-in-law, Dennis (Diane) Latshaw of Battle Creek; grandchildren, Brian (Beth) Latshaw of Kalamazoo, Rachel Phillips of Battle Creek, Brandon Karis of Los Alamos, NM, Courtney Karis of Battle Creek, Kent (Corie) Shea of Battle Creek; great-grandchildren, David Latshaw, Megan Phillips; and numerous nieces, nephews cousins and their families. In addition to his two wives, Roger was also preceded in death by two daughters, Deborah (Maiolo) Latshaw, Terry Reed and a son, Richard Reed.

Roger was a member of the Kellogg 25 Year Club. He loved spending time and riding bikes with his family. He was an entertaining story teller. Roger loved the Detroit Lions, fishing around his cabin up north, and hunting deer in the Upper Peninsula. He enjoyed duck hunting and fishing over several states. He also cheered for the Detroit Tigers. He enjoyed the intricacy of putting model boats together. More recently, Roger enjoyed spending hours using pencils and coloring books to be creative. He used to play the Banjo and an occasional Harmonica. Roger will be remembered for his storytelling and sharing his love for the outdoors, his kind, caring and gentle soul, and for being the most loving man.


Friends will be received 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2022 at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. A service to celebrate Roger's life will be officiated by Josh Hydrick in the Chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022.


Roger's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the care, love and concern given by everyone on the staff at Bickford Assisted Living. A very special thank you to Pat Gray for all of the care that she extended to Roger and his family.
