Ronald Dean Burdette, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on Sunday, September 11th, 2022. He was born on April 11, 1959, to his parents James Burdette and Joann Dishman. He lived to be 63.
Ronald is remembered fondly as "Ron," "Dad," "Brother," "Grandpa," "Popeye/Pie-Pie," "Friend," and as a handful of other names that he proudly owned but would be impolite to note here. He joyfully showed off every picture of each child and grandchild he received and he spent many, days enjoying long drives and the company of his best friend, Mike.
Ron loved to have fun. He cracked bad jokes at every opportunity, whether appropriate or not. When he found something especially funny, he would roar with laughter until he folded over in a coughing fit that turned his face purple. He preferred life to be simple, taking pleasure in nights spent with loved ones over shared Pizza Hut and a movie. He could punch a rebellious TV antenna back into alignment without fail every time. He let his children, and later his grandchildren, win at Mario Kart.
His memory, abundant love, and rude sense of humor live on in his children, Kenneth Burdette, Richard Burdette, Christopher Burdette, and Sarah Burdette; his grandchildren, Daisy Burdette, Benjamin Burdette, Oliver Burdette, and Remy Burdette; his siblings, Terry and Steve Burdette; and also in Mike Saylor, his best friend of over 50 years. He joins his parents and his brother Jimmy in heaven, where he watches over his living family in well-deserved peace.
Visitation will be held from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care. Internment will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Personal messages to the family or favorite memories of Ronald would be warmly welcomed by his surviving family. If preferred, they may also be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com.
