Ronald Stanley DeForest, known affectionately as Ron, passed away at the age of 83 on October 17, 2024, at his home in Battle Creek, MI surrounded by loved ones. Born on September 9, 1941, in Lansing, MI, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family and a passion for his Harley Davidson.
Ron served in the U.S. Army Reserve, Transportation Corps (USAR TC) for three years and seven months, a commitment that showcased his dedication and discipline, traits that he carried into his civilian life. After his military service, Ron became known in his community as a hardworking individual, continuing his professional endeavors until he was no longer able.
He was a man of strong character, sometimes stubborn, yet always loving. A father and grandfather, Ron cherished his family above all. His love for riding his Harley Davidson was well known, and his sense of humor and kindness made him a beloved figure in his community.
Ron leaves behind his wife, Donna DeForest, and a large loving family. He is survived by his daughters, Danielle (Nick) Smith, Cilena McCormick, Jessica DeForest, Ashley (Philip Jones) DeForest, Veronica DeForest and Nevaeh DeForest; sons, Steven DeForest, Ronald “Bubba” DeForest and Joshua “JR” DeForest, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will miss him deeply. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Lyda and Robert DeForest, a brother, Cal Deforest and a daughter, Heather DeForest.
Ron’s life and legacy will be honored in a manner befitting his significant impact on those around him. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him as a testament to a life will-lived, filled with laughter, love and loyalty. A graveside service with military honors well be at Fort Custer National Cemetery on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements by the Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care.
