Ron Denardo's life recently came to an end on May 11, 2019. Ron was 68 years old and a husband, father, and grandfather.
Ron will be remembered for his service to Special Olympics. For the last 15 years he served as head coach for Kalamazoo's Powerlifting team. While volunteering, he had the opportunity to take two of his athletes to Puerto Rico for a competition and to see his son, Mark, compete at the national level in Seattle. For many years he volunteered as Area 16 Public Relations, editor of their newsletter and chaperoned at many state competitions.
Ron also gave much of his time to interpreting Italian vital records into English so people all over the world could discover their heritage. He interpreted over 300,000 birth, death, and marriage records and posted them online. He loved being able to converse with Italians all over the world. His work will remain online and will continue to help people throughout the world.
Surviving Ron are his wife Ethy, son Mark, daughter Lily, daughter-in-law Jessica (née Heil), and grandchildren Avery and Adeline.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019 at the Farley Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Richland, MI with a luncheon to follow at the Richland Area Community Center, 9400 East CD Ave. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor his life may give to Special Olympics Michigan Area 16.
