Ronald A. “Ron” Funk passed away peacefully at his home with family at his side on Sunday evening, February 25, 2024.
Ron was born in Battle Creek on May 31, 1939 the son of Donald O. and Mildred M. (DeMond) Funk. He faithfully served as a member of the United States Marine Corps Reserves and retired from Clark Equipment after more than 15 years. After retiring from Clark Equipment, Ron worked as a chef at the Hunt Club, and also worked at McCamly Plaza and Meijers. A true outdoorsman & family man, Ron enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, model trains, woodworking, and watching “Westerns”, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
Ron married Diana Fox in Battle Creek on December 23, 1976. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 47 years, Diana; his children, Rodney Funk, Wayne Funk, Christy (Scott) Stevens, Michelle (Sidney) Granum, and Jennifer Hicks; twelve grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Marie; his former wife, JoAnne “Murphy” Murray; his parents; and two sisters, Marilyn and Donna.
A memorial service to celebrate Ron’s life will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 1st in the chapel at Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
