Ronald L. Mowrey, 66, of Battle Creek, Michigan died at Bronson Battle Creek on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
Ron was born September 3, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Harvey L. and Anna E. (Bakkila) Mowrey. He grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. He honorably served his country with the U.S. Army, during the Vietnam Era. Ron was retired. He held many different jobs, he was a shop steward at Eaton until it closed, he worked construction, he worked at the Gull Lake Marina, and various other places.
Surviving are his daughter, Michelle (Sean) Beary of France; and four grandsons. Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Mowrey; his father Harvey and his brother Eric.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman that loved to fish, hunt, swim and sail. As a child he enjoyed spending his time at the family farm in Chassell, MI, spending a lot of time with his many cousins. Growing up he also spent time camping, boating, swimming and fishing with his cousins on Long Lake. The love of the outdoors stuck with him his whole life. He was also an avid motorcyclist. Along with surviving many mishaps, he also enjoyed attending motorcycle and car shows with his cousins Doug and Bill. Ron enjoyed watching sports and cheered the Detroit Lions and the Red Wings.
The family would like to thank those that helped Ron the last few years, his visiting nurse from the VA, Heather and his neighbors, Rox and Tony and his cousins, Bill and Doug.
Friends will be received 12:00 noon -1:00 p.m. Thursday at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, where funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Cary Grant 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014.
Military honors and interment will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
